Building Modern Dance Ships and sending them out to Sea.We are seeking our truths as lovers, friends, strangers, soulmates, enemies, scene-stealers and exhausted, relentless moving bodies. We unravel through isolation, relationship, and community as we find realities and dreams that rarely hit the surface. We say yes to everything.
Stranger Lover Dreamer is an Oakland based dance theater collective that was founded in 2013 under the co-director of Shaunna Vella, Andrew Merrell, and Elizebeth Randall Rains. The collective builds radical dance events and is committed to exploring new ways of collaborating between themselves and inviting guest artists to participate in the process. Full Evening works included, Self-Titled, Paul C.'s Homeroom Journal, and 3,4,5,6, 1. SLD was awarded Artists-in-Residency at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center in 2014.
